Beech wood can be considered to be a sustainable source, as long as it is responsibly harvested. Beach trees sequester a lot of carbon during their life. The number of beech trees is growing annually, so currently more new beach trees are growing than are being cut down, which helps to elevate it as a sustainable resource.
Silicone is a non-toxic polymer mostly made from silica (sand). It lasts longer and stands up better against heat and cold than plastics. When burned, silicone reverts back into its harmless ingredients (unlike plastic which releases toxins when burned).
